Starseed

A collection of vintage postcards and envelopes tied with twine, featuring a pen and old stamps.

Postcards I Never Sent

I am going to China on Friday.  There will be postcards.  But to whom should I send them?  Who are you?  I will write my passing postcard thoughts here, if they reach into your heart tell me, you are my you.
Wednesday, May 7th
I am leaving a country madly rushing into a past that no longer exists for one that is barrelling into a future that they invent as they go along.  The velocity is stunning.  After India, Egypt, Istanbul, Japan, I finally know how to pack.  Especially the packets of tuna fish.  Because one day mid journey you wake up so disoriented that only tuna fish can reestablish your identity.

The flights to Beijing take two days, we won’t get there till Sunday evening.  I am an introvert, 1.4 bill

Out - Losing and Finding my Voice

This first collection has its origin in an MFA program at Antioch in LA in 2009.  I stopped after a year to assist first one, then the other, of my parents pass on.  In the course of the grief I lost my voice.

It came back one day this year when a friend with angel hair told me he played hockey.  Within minutes out came a flood of images and the complete poem Mean Angels.

Many of the poems in this collection Out date back to the year in LA, while others are new, which explains the variations in tone.

I am especially interested in alternate life forms - aliens, angels, mermaids, fairies.  To me these embody inhuman and often superhuman mentalities that allow me to reflect more clearly on the human condition, and to be honest, to consider more interesting alternat

Freeclimbing

This collection was born from the experience of walking with someone tortured by childhood abuse through a decade of addiction and ultimately death.  It was hard to reread and edit these poems but I know it is time to let them go.  They will resonate with those who have been through the same darkness, probably alienate those who have not.  Members of my beloved online Hardcore Literature Bookclub who were all in for Infinite Jest will get it.  Some poems relate to others who crossed over - Last Rites, Dreamcatcher.

Religious metaphor invades some of the poems, this happened unconsciously while I was writing.  I subsequently learned from cognitive neuroscience that religiosity and addiction inhabit the same part of the brain.  Hence the brilliance of the AA and NA approach.<

Experiments in Form

This is a playful collection of experiments in different uses of language, symbols, style and structure to float a thought that might otherwise be lost in a standard poem.

There is a Japanese art called kintsugi, meaning golden joinery, the art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer, often dusted with gold, silver or platinum powder.  This is based on a philosophy of seeing beauty in imperfection and finding beauty in the face of lifes trials by healing and rebuilding.

These experiments break apart traditional forms and reassemble them in way I hope people find amusing, but more to the point,  inspire serious reflection on the fragility of identity and love.

Astro Illogical

This collection is loosely based on astrology, by which I mean the title of each poem is an astrological referent but the poem itself has a life of its own.  The first begins:

Signs

There are signs everywhere
A horse neighing in a thunderstorm
A penny heads up on the sidewalk
Your face in the coffee cup grinds.
How do I know what is a sign
And what is just the dead self of matter?
Who will tell me what to hope for
If I cannot stomach the current palette of gods?

Future Collections

My next major collection, Poesie Japonaise, will take the rest of the year to complete.  This collection is based on Japanese arts and crafts as well as multifarious aspects of the language and culture.  These are used as a starting point for universal meditations. I envision a collection of 30-50 poems, so far having written Origami, Shibari, Kintsugi and Bonsai.

Starseed Transmissions

This is an ongoing collection based on starseed ascension:  It will grow and develop along with my evolving spiritual transformation.  The first is:

Ascension

We kiss you with our eyes
And wait to see your fate
If you are one of us
Your soul will now awake

Look around and see
Ascension has begun
Starseeds all glowing up
5th dimensional love

If you turn your face away
We’ll know you are not one
In 3D you will remain
Not seeing we are gone

An echo may remain
A passing touch or glance
You won’t know what it is
3D is a living trance

Two more doors will open
The frequency is high
The portal is your heart
It’s not time to say goodbye

Two candles burning brightly against a dark background, creating a warm glow.

Twin Flames

This is hard to understand if you have not experienced it, and harder yet to experience. Beginning with recognition shock.  Which you don’t understand till others who know about this explain it to you.

I Always Knew I Had a Soul
It is unconditional love trapped in bodies seeking return to divinity.

Genre Confusion
Romance, mystery, sci-fi, horror
What story do I now inhabit
The fugue of emotion is just too much
I want to run, run, run like a rabbit

There may be hope, here is my prayer
This is all just in my head
What I really need is an exorcism
The rest is better left unsaid
